Feed Growth

June 27th, 2007

New website to entice RSS feed subscribers. Feed Growth.
Millenial Living recently posted an analysis about the business case of RSS on government websites. They even include a downloadable document for government agencies looking to justify the need for RSS. The author an employee of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, was required  to develop a business case on RSS before he could implement it on the FERC Internet website.

It is clear that RSS is growing in popularity on all types of government websites.

Many webmasters struggle with the auto-discovery code that should be added to the header of an HTML web page to automatically indicate to web browsers that an RSS feed for the contents is available. New RSS Directory

June 11th, 2007

RSSBuffet is a new RSS directory for locating RSS feeds.

A worrying experience now. I am using 'ScribeFire' to write this post then publish it to my Music Man blog. Never having used this particular editor before to make a post I am unsure if it will work. So it could go anywhere. If you find it, please send it back.

A little time ago Further Musings of a Librarian invited me to write eight random things about myself. I started my eight by saying I don't like coconut, and then realised I might add bananas to that list plus quite a few other foods, but thought the eight random things would only be foods I don't like eating. Instead I added my second one as being I am no good at spelling, but I'm also not too hot on maths either. Then I worried that my random list was becoming a litany of negative things so I tried to change that direction by adding to the list that I am left handed.

Probably because I had written down about my left-handedness I remembered that I broke my arm when I was a child. I broke my arm trying out the chair on top of a bonfire we had built for our Guy Fawkes. The chair wasn't safe and I fell off the top of the bonfire. Suddenly I was going into too much detail, so I decided to put down another random thing about me. I played table tennis against Desmond Douglas. By now I realised I was thinking about it too much and the stuff was no longer random. I'm not too good at thinking about random things. I was a taxi driver for a time. Oh, yes another random thing - I once got death threats because of the stage act I did. But I try not to think about that. Suddenly this random thing is raising all sorts of painful memories. I did do stage acts that didn't receive death threats. Tommy Cooper is one of my heroes.

Now that might be eight random things. If it is not I better stop because I am sure this is no longer random. Do we ever do anything randomly I wonder? So I am sorry Lilian if these are not too random, indeed there might not even be eight things there. See, I told you I was no good at maths. Another random thing, I am not too good at this 'random thing' game either.

I am going to publish this now. I think I have set everything up correctly in ScribeFire. Hope it works. It could randomly disappear and I would have no idea what I had done.
